WHERE DOES THERMAL MUD COME FROM:
The geology of New Zealand includes an extensive belt of thermal activity travering the centre of the North Island. It ranges from White Island a live volcano at sea in the Bay Of Plenty, and then travels west across Rotorua and the surrounding area, finially diminishing in the active volcanoes of Ngaruahoe and Ruapehu in the Tongariro National Park, at the centre of the North Island.
Rotorua is located in an extremely active thermal region with performing geysers, boiling mud pools, smoking fumaroles,hot water springs and former live volcanoes. An active boiling mud pool is a sight to behold and it is from this mineral enriched phenomenon of nature that a unique range of natural beauty therapy products has developed.
For many years Rotorua's Grey Thermal Mud has been used for its healing properties in the local Queen Elizebeth II Hospital. These properties are retained in the Gray Mud used in the preparation of all Our Thermal Mud Products.
The Gray Mud is first sterilised by a special process and then refined to remove any foreign matter such as traces of volcanic ash residues. After this it is then ready for inclusion in our range of Quality Products.

Thermal Mud consists of a suspension of Thermal Mud in mineral spa water. The contact that the mud has with volcanic gases and minerals from the centre of the earth is the reason that it is particulary rich in minerals. Ordinary clays and mud's contain some minerals but because of its volcanic origin, Rotorua mud is far richer in these properties.
Rotorua Thermal Mud is excellent for use in regenerative skin care because the clays have a very strong affinity for moisture in the skin. Thermal Mud on drying will generate heat, increasing blood circulation and perspiration helping toxins and other wastes to be eliminated.
